We are pleased to announce that additional drawings for the 80% Mk1 Replica Spitfire are now available and are being sent to builders. The drawings are contained on CD release # 070208, and include the following:
Drawings are in PDF file format ( Portable Document Format) that allows the builder to view drawings using the latest Adobe Reader program, a free download from the Adobe website. The builder is free to print drawings as required , and in the case of the wing ribs and some other components, builders will need to have the full size patterns (templates) printed . All drawings issued by Tally-Ho Enterprises have been initialized for each builders exclusive use - dxf files are also available should the builder wish to use the CNC process for part cutting. We have received a number a requests for some Spitfire components and as a result have ordered aluminum castings for the control column spade grip. They will require some machining and will include the gun button which will be adapted for “push to talk” function. As soon as we have all the costs identified we will advise. In addition we are investigating the production of windshield and canopies and will have more information on this at a later date. Depending upon the time needed to complete the remainder of the drawings we are planning the re-assembly of our prototype Spitfire together with the new power plant in the spring, and we hope to fly later in the year. Improvements include up grading from 170 to 420 h.p., constant speed aluminum prop, electric trim on rudder and elevator, and wing fuel tanks added . Interest in the Tally-Ho Spitfire is increasing, and we now have builders located in Canada , USA , Finland , U.K. and Australia . We are continuing work on the website in particular the Builder photo library which provides many construction details. We constantly receive comments on the accuracy of our Spitfire Replica. We have made minimal concessions to the external appearance, concentrating on producing a set of plans that are easy to read, comprehensive and adaptable to modern fabrication technology. Registration Builders can register with Tally-Ho Enterprises for an initial cost of US$1,250.00 which will include all current and future drawing files, and the Builders Manual all contained on a CD. Should you wish to receive actual drawings, we will be happy to have them printed and sent to you, and we will advise you of these costs at the time.
